Wind is definitely no stranger to this venue. This night was one of the worst I've ever witnessed at the rocks. It becomes really noticeable during the last song of the first set "ML&C", is still present at the onset of the second set, and is really bad during "Mr. Completely". The wind actually pushed the sound to the south with strong gusts. The effect was noticeable during the show, and is likewise on the tape. I'll call it a phase effect, when the wind was calm the full sound reached the mics, but when it was gusting much of the sound was carried south with the wind, causing an in and out effect. Unfortunate because other than this it's a good recording, with nice vocal presence. I set a pad on the mics to filter low level to minimize wind rumble. This and the use of some great windscreens resulted in no wind rumble, amazing considering how windy it was at times. No editing was done, but it was resampled from 48kHz to 44.1 kHz to make it compatible with CD Audio. Show Note: This is the second night of Trey's return to Red Rocks. The freaks were in attendence with full force. Red Rocks parking lots are spread apart, but everybody seemed to remember from Phish days that the upper lot is for shakedown. Not a full blown shakedown, but you were able to find a bite to eat, a beverage, and something for the mind before the show. During the song "Bathtub Gin" Trey let the audience sing the scat part of the song. Had Trey laughing (which you can hear on tape) and having a grand ole time. This summer tour was a breath of fresh air, and this show, for that matter this run, has to rank up there. ----------------------------------- tab2001-07-18_akg-c3000.flac16 FingerPrint: tab2001-07-18d1t01_akg-c3000.flac:43941d1871f7cb77d3ee533611db16c9 tab2001-07-18d1t02_akg-c3000.flac:f88ba896dadbd1c56d9889928324c30c tab2001-07-18d1t03_akg-c3000.flac:f8d6fb20d0ca171b5c1b2c2ec869aeaf tab2001-07-18d1t04_akg-c3000.flac:a7bc2e0fcabdbaa13c317af5a81188ab tab2001-07-18d1t05_akg-c3000.flac:e8af0d6d6a3bb14847cd7cd1416c3849 tab2001-07-18d1t06_akg-c3000.flac:6c5d3a0c7ba285b37081c45350c227d2 tab2001-07-18d2t01_akg-c3000.flac:50f5f54c68b686b18e1a8504683e7c5c tab2001-07-18d2t02_akg-c3000.flac:7c3d248335f28b4e4f5803259fb11852 tab2001-07-18d2t03_akg-c3000.flac:db22465a4cff47ee1e1795cf1e1cfb84 tab2001-07-18d2t04_akg-c3000.flac:01920ce12fd2204782c6efb376a99888 tab2001-07-18d2t05_akg-c3000.flac:6875d83d14205115dd5564e41e80ea9c tab2001-07-18d3t01_akg-c3000.flac:1c33d8cc689910ca6a8723b40912fac9 tab2001-07-18d3t02_akg-c3000.flac:81143b8a3cb9c875d07399ba37fa1600 tab2001-07-18d3t03_akg-c3000.flac:d0c02d2f589604449d34b4f67d8cdb28 tab2001-07-18d3t04_akg-c3000.flac:8115f8bf6d7dc1c380f8669a402cda63 -------- Setlist: -------- Set 1: Mozambique, Caymen Review, Instrumental, Last Tube, Windora Bug, Burlap Sack & Pumps, Money Love & Change Set 2: Sand, Acting Like the Devil, Mr. Completely, Gotta Jibbo, At the Barbeque, Radon Balloon@, Bathtub Gin@, E: Moesha Comment: @ Trey solo acoustic ------------------------------------- Brought To You By: Wheel To The Storm http://wheeltothestorm.com/
